Our Beliefs

Yes, we can make an amazing difference! This declaration is not just a slogan but a genuine conviction. Teacher efficacy is the belief that we possess the necessary skills to act as powerful change agents in the lives of the students we teach. John Hattie says this belief stands above all other influences on educational outcomes. This self-belief is essential for the tutoring context.

We know that learners may start behind or even fall behind over time, and they may catch up. But students never catch up by accident, and closing the gaps in learning must be intentional. Catching up isn't always straightforward, and it can be tricky involving a multitude of factors like the student's mindset, parental support, and sometimes an outside agency's expertise.

So, what should you look for in a tutor? Coupled with teacher efficacy, John Hattie says that teachers who routinely develop themselves professionally, focus on strong relationships, make learning visible through success criteria and feedback, are passionate, and monitor progress are on the right track.
